Here are 60,000 reasons why to fish Manistee. The state of Michigan plants salmon all around the state. However our Manistee Sportfishing Association has planted our very own salmon for many years. This is a picture of our little salmon smolts going into our holding pens on April 29, 2008. We care for these fish until they have acclimated with our Manistee River water. These pens with automatic feeders are our (Manistee Sportfishing Association) investment for the future. These little salmon will spawn and die in our Manistee River 4 years from now.
